THE MALVERN COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP WELCOMES THE FONTANA CHOIR FROM MARIÁNSKÉ LÁZNĚ, CZECH REPUBLIC

A CONCERT IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE HILLS SINGERS:

Saturday 29th June at Elmslie House

7.00 PM

TICKETS £10 ON THE DOOR OR VIA WWW.TICKETSOURCE.CO.UK

Their repertoire covers a wide range from traditional Czech country songs to classical works by Chopin and Dvorak and church music.

In this brief visit, they will be singing on Saturday June 29, accompanied in some pieces by Irena Percy of the Hills Singers on piano.

The theme of the concert is Summer, expressing also the companionship to be found in singing together.

The Fontána Choir from Mariánské Lázně (Marienbad) Malvern’s Czech partner town will perform a repertoire of Czech country songs, church music and classical works by Chopin and Dvorak during this, their first concert in our country. In association with The Hills Singers who performed previously to great acclaim in Mariánské Lázně, this follows the memorable visit of the Canzona Children’s Choir to Malvern during Civic Week in 2015. The concert represents a strengthening of the musical ties between our towns which date back to 1989 and Malvern’s involvement in the “Velvet Revolution” when the late Laurie Gregory waved his banner “Love and kisses from England” during those tumultuous times in Prague’s Wenceslas Square, and went on to organise the Mariánské Lázně Youth Orchestra’s highly acclaimed visits to Malvern in 1990 and 1991.
