The Elmslie House team is always beetling away at something – whether it’s planning the next Blue Magpie Contemporary Craft Fair; coming up with ideas for new events; writing newsletters, social media posts and press releases or trying out new cake recipes – there’s never a dull moment and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

When the doors of Elmslie House were closed during the second lockdown in 2020, we pondered the idea of creating our own publication – somewhere we could bring together all things Elmslie – from the history of the house and interviews with the makers who come to the Blue Magpie fairs, to recipes for our favourite tearoom treats and a look at exhibitions and other events the house plays host to.

We’re very excited to announce that this has become a reality and Elmslie – Volume 1 is now available to buy (for £3 + p&p) from the Blue Magpie online shop.

Elmslie – Volume 1 is 46 pages long and includes ‘Meet the Maker’ interviews, the story behind Dame Laura Knight’s visit to Elmslie House, pages showcasing some of our favourite maker creations…and the recipe for Anna’s much-loved carrot cake.
