Pianist Marie-Louise Taylor regularly plays as a soloist and chamber musician for venues around the UK and in Europe. She has performed at the Wigmore Hall and St John’s Smith Square, London, also at the Adrian Boult Hall, the CBSO Centre and the Barber Institute in Birmingham, at Reading Arts Centre, Chester University, the Welsh College of Music, Whitely Hall, , Royal Holloway College, The Artrix Centre, the Gateway Arts Centre amongst many others.
Her performance of Ravel’s Jeux d’Eau was broadcast on BBC Radio 3’s ‘In Tune’ programme. Marie-Louise has worked as an accompanist for the Welsh College of Music and the Birmingham Conservatoire and regularly performs chamber music with singers and instrumentalists.

Marie-Louise is established as a highly successful and sought after piano teacher specialising in performance flow, physical re- education, and the fine craft of developing musical sensitivity. Marie-Louise has taught for the Royal Welsh College of the Music and Drama, the Birmingham Conservatoire, the Royal Northern College of Music Jr school, the Universities of Manchester, Birmingham and was on the staff at Chetham’s School of Music for twenty years.
ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE: Marie-Louise teaches the piano via the Principles of the Alexander Technique which she first learnt from her father Harold Taylor, author of the well- known book, ‘The Pianist’s Talent ‘ and she also studied under Don Weed, Founder of the ITMA Interactive Teaching Method of the Alexander Technique
Marie-Louise studied extensively at the Royal Academy of Music and in private lessons with Alan Schiller and international concert pianist Piers Lane.
On a British government scholarship to Hungary, she spent a year studying at the Kodàly Institute of Music ,taking piano lessons with Orsoyla Sabo and accompaniment with Roland Hadju, from the Liszt Academy, Budapest.
On returning, she immersed herself deeper into the study of piano technique, and performance flow taking extensive training in Alexander Technique with Don Weed, Founder of ITMA.
Marie-Louise has worked as an adjudicator for music festivals and an examiner for piano competitions including the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, University of Manchester, Chester University and the Dudley International Piano Competition. Marie-Louise examines for music competitions, the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, the Manchester of University and is an adjudicator for the Dudley International Piano Competition 2025.
