Tyler Massey Trio is a dynamic new group founded on the evocative songs that American-born guitarist/songwriter Tyler Massey wrote for his “American Nightmare EP”, which he co-produced with bassist Alex Knight.
Tyler and Alex started playing live shows, and, after the addition of remarkable percussionist Eric Hej, the trio was complete.
Their spontaneous style and natural energy was apparent from the first time they played at their spiritual home, The West Malvern Social Club, and was solidified during their first “proper” gig together at the storied Red Lion Folk Club in King’s Heath.
Tyler’s evocative, often brazen, 21st century folk songs feature throughout their set, alongside a couple of surprising covers.
And to support the Trio, is:
Dave’s musical history started as a 17 year old, playing in a three piece progressive blues band, Anubis, then followed periods with Mo Birch Band, Little Acre and Four on the Floor.
Dave currently performs as a solo artist, playing acoustic guitar and mandolin. He has released three solo albums, where he plays acoustic, electric and bass guitars, mandolin, banjo, and various other instruments.
Dave’s acoustic guitar style is uniquely percussive – that and his own finger-picking techniques and self-penned material adds up to an electric mix defying comparison or categorisation.
Influenced by life, the world and what’s happening in it, his songs are delivered with conviction, humour and a helping of well placed cynicism.
