Following the success of ‘John Piper at Elmslie House‘ earlier this year, in November we are delighted to once again be collaborating with Dr Richard Turkington to bring you a collection of Post-War Prints – including these:
Robert Tavener Heinz Fleischer
Led by a desire to popularise art and by technical improvements, the 1950s saw a dramatic revival in printmaking by a new generation of artists keen to capture everyday scenes in new forms, as well as reworking more traditional subjects such as architecture and landscape.
A collection of prints from across Europe has been combined with original ceramics to offer a mid-century perspective on art and design. Artists represented include Edwin La Dell, David Gentleman, Helena Markson, Henry Moore and John Piper.
The exhibition will be opening on Saturday 25th November from 3.00pm – 7.30pm, following a lunchtime recital from the Arioso Wind Quartet.
Opening times will then be:
Weekends: 10.30 – 4.30pm on Sunday 26th November, Saturday 2nd December and Sunday 3rd December
and afternoons only (2.30pm – 5.00pm) throughout the week (November 27th – November 30th) with late opening on Friday 1st December until 8pm.
The exhibition may be opened at other times by arrangement.
A café will be open offering light refreshments.
For for further information, or to be added to the Guest List for the Private View due to take place on Friday 24th November from 6-8pm, please contact Dr Richard Turkington on 07714 106386 or e-mail him on firstname.lastname@example.org.
